The band was started in 1992 by Edward Lewis in a local Methodist Church as a place for young people to gather to play. Today the membership has evolved into a combination of community members, band directors, retired and practicing musicians, and young musicians who enjoy playing music. With a music library of over 2000 musical selections, we cover a wide range of musical experiences that makes involvement in the group highly rewarding.
The band plays throughout Volusia County at retirement centers, nursing homes, churches, and special events. Call us to schedule us for your special event! This year, the band will make four appearances at the Bandshell on the Beach at Daytona.
The music we play includes patriotic pieces, marches, contemporary band arrangements, Broadway tunes, and selected classical music. Presently, we have around 30 members and encourage any individuals who enjoy playing to join.
Daytona Beach Concert Band strives to provide quality entertainment that will accentuate the intrinsic joy of music in all members and audiences.
