Our New Conductor
_edited.jpg)
Our new conductro is Dr. James T. Madeja, a distinguished trumpet player, conductor, and music educator.
Dr. Madeja taught for more than three decades at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where he led bands, taught instrumental music education and trumpet, and mentored countless young musicians. His ensembles have even performed for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.
He is a founding member of both the Orchestra of Northern New York and the Northern Symphonic Winds, and for 35 years was part of the Potsdam Brass Quintet. Beyond Crane, he has toured nationally with Keith Brion’s New Sousa Band and conducted Skyline Brass. Dr. Madeja’s excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
